Featured Speakers

Harry Dunne, CEO at Bluewave
Finian Quinn, BD Director at Bluewave

Usually, the whole Bluewave team works completely remotely, and while this is great for staff satisfaction – as well as the planet – an in-person meeting was more than overdue. As a result, the date was set for Bluewave Summit, with Manchester picked as an ideal location, considering it’s easy to travel to from Dublin, Belfast, London, Glasgow and Edinburgh – where most of our team members live. It was particularly convenient for our marketing manager, who was just a 10 minute tram ride away!

The event consisted of two days of teambuilding: the first featured business update talks from our directors and CEO, with the second being more focused on experiences – including a boat ride and historical tour of Manchester’s canals, in order to give the team a flavour of the city.

Our Reputation for Success

Our official team building event consisted of two days at Manchester’s Innside hotel, making use of their conference suite. We kicked off proceedings with an intro from our CEO – Harry Dunne, who talked our latest recruits through the history of Bluewave, and gave us all an idea of where the business is heading over the next few years.

Following that was a talk from Lorraine Nolan – our Customer Success Director, who talked through some of Bluewave’s milestone achievements this year, our developing relationship with our partners at Salesforce, and how our strong reputation for successful delivery continues to be the reason why customers come to us, and return to us for their deployments.

Next up was our Business Development and Sustainability Director – Finian Quinn, who heads up our presence in the non-profit space. He also talked us through the latest Salesforce solution: Net Zero Cloud, a powerful platform that goes beyond carbon accounting and can be used by organisations to reach Net Zero emissions, faster.

Closing out our senior management talks was Sales Director Paul Mooney who shared our successes within the Public Sector arena, including a nod to our recent public sector networking event that Salesforce invited us to host alongside their World Tour London convention a week prior at London’s ExCeL centre. Again, our strong reputation for success is noticed not only by our customers, but with Salesforce who we’ve reached Platinum Partner status with.

What We Do

Following our morning talks, we also heard from a number of our senior members of staff, who delivered educational talks around the work that they do. This included an overview of Bluewave’s Way of Working, with information about how we use Experience Cloud from Senior Salesforce Consultants Matt and Craig, plus a resource update from Barry – our Senior Salesforce Developer.

That presentation was followed by a talk from our Training Lead: Darren, who filled us all in on how our training team is developing, as well as what it takes to be a trainer; our team is regarded by Salesforce as one of the best in Europe, so maintaining that reputation is no mean feat. Jorgan, who heads up our technical department and also works as a project manager gave a talk about feedback and performance management, then Hemant – one of our consultants – rounded off the talks with a presentation on testing.

These talks were designed to give all members of staff a better idea of what’s going on in different areas of the business, as well as introduce them to the experts they may need to get in touch with, should they require specific help.

An Evening of Festivities

Once the talks were over, the team were able to unwind over a three course meal and a few glasses of bubbly. The party then moved over to The Oast House, located in Spinningfields – Manchester’s business and financial district.

A New Perspective

After a late night on the town, what could be better than a tour of Manchester’s landmarks by boat? Despite some members of the team possibly nursing a bit of a sore head, everyone was excited to get out on the water and find out more about the exciting city of Manchester.

The final part of Bluewave Summit was an informal lunch back at The Oast House where team members were able to relax, acquaint themselves better with their fellow employees and senior management, and of course – get a bite to eat! The day came to an end pretty early in order to allow everyone to get home at a decent time, and we have it on good authority that everyone arrived back home in one piece!

Looking to the Future

We’d like to end this blog post by saying a huge thank you to every team member that came to Bluewave Summit – the event was a fantastic success where we were able to strengthen connections and learn from each other. We can’t wait to see you all again at our next get together in December.
